Retaliation (道連れ Michidzure, Translated: Companion?) is a triggered effect keyword introduced in BT-02: Booster Ultimate Power and BT01-03: Release Special Booster Ver.1.0. It is indicated by "Retaliation" on an orange background.
How it Works[]
A Digimon with <Retaliation> deletes the Digimon it was battling if it was deleted during a battle.
Rulings[]
-
Q: I have a Digimon with <Piercing>, which I use to attack and delete the opponent's Digimon with <Retaliation>. My attacking Digimon is deleted by <Retaliation>, but what happens to the <Piercing> effect?A: No, <Retaliation> causes both Digimon to be deleted, so while even though <Piercing> was triggered it can no longer perform Security Checks because it is no longer in play.[1]

Q: If I delete an opponent's Digimon with <Retaliation> in battle, does this fulfill the condition for "When this Digimon attacks and deletes an opponent's Digimon and survives the battle"?A: Yes, the effect of "When this Digimon attacks and deletes an opponent's Digimon and survives the battle" happens before <Retaliation>.[2]
