Incorrect Card Text!!
This keyword's English Translation is incorrect. This keyword is an interruptive timing.

Material Save (マテリアルセーブ Materiarusēvu?) is an interruptive triggered effect keyword introduced in BT-10: Booster Xros Encounter. It is indicated by "Material Save" followed by a number on an orange background.

How it Works[]

When a Digimon would be deleted <Material Save X>, before it is deleted you can place X cards that are listed in its [DigiXros]condition underneath 1 of your Tamers before the Digimon is deleted.

Per Tamer Instance rulings, the following rules apply:

  • The Tamer will not receive the Inherited Effects.
  • If the Tamer leaves the field, the cards underneath are trashed.
  • If the Tamer becomes a Digimon, the cards underneath become digivolution cards and their inherited effects become active.

When does <Material Save> activate?[]

Before the Digimon would be deleted and sent to the trash. As such, effects that prevent deletion such as <Decoy> (When your other Digimon would be deleted by an opponent's effect, you may delete this Digimon to prevent 1 of those Digimon's deletion) can prevent its deletion while also allowing you to place cards underneath 1 of your tamers.

Rulings[]

  1. Q: When a Digimon with <Material Save 2> would be deleted, if there is only one card in its digivolution cards that fulfills the [DigiXros] conditions, is it possible to place that card underneath a tamer?
A: Yes, you can put that card underneath a tamer, even if you only have one card that fulfils the requirements.[1]
  2. Q: Can <Material Save> place cards underneath a tamer if it is a card that meets the [DigiXros] conditions, even if the card was not placed by using [DigiXros]?
A: Yes, you can place any card that meets the requirements in [DigiXros] even if it was not placed by [DigiXros].[1]
  3. Q: When a Digimon with <Material Save> would be deleted, is it possible to not place cards from the Digimon's digivolution cards underneath a tamer even if they fulfil the [DigiXros] requirements?
A: Yes, you may choose not to place.[1]
  4. Q: When a Digimon with <Material Save 2> would be deleted and there are two digivolution cards that fulfil the [DigiXros], can I only place one of them under the tamer?
A: No, it is not a "up to" effect, so if you want to put a card, you must do as much as possible.[1]
  5. Q: When a Digimon with <Material Save 2> would be deleted, if there are two digivolution cards with the same card number that are in the [DigiXros] condition, can both of them be placed under the tamer?
    A: Yes, you can.[1]
  6. Q: When you put cards with <Material Save> under a tamer that already has cards underneath it, in what order do you put the cards?
A: The new cards would be placed at the very bottom of the Tamer.[1]
  7. Q: Can <Material Save> be used to place it underneath a Digimon that digivolved from a Tamer?
A: No, the Digimon that digivolved from a Tamer is currently a Digimon, and not a Tamer.[1]
  8. Q: After placing a card under the tamer with <Material Save>, the tamer is digivolved into a Digimon. Will the inherited effect of the cards placed with <Material Save> be active?
    A: Yes, they will.[1]
  9. Q: What happens to the cards with <Material Save> placed underneath a tamer when the tamer leaves the field?
A: The cards underneat the Tamer will be trashed.[1]
  10. Q: When a Digimon that has the effects of <Material Save> and an [On Deletion] is deleted, will these be triggered at the same time?
A: No, <Material Save> is an effect of "when it would be deleted", so it interrupts the deletion and activates before the deletion, so <Material Save> puts the card(s) underneath a tamer first. After that, the [On Deletion] effect of the Digimon will be triggered and activated.[1]
  11. Q: When a Digimon with <Material Save> has digivolution card with an inherited [On Deletion] effect. If the digivolution card is placed underneath a Tamer, will the [On Deletion] effect activate?
A: No, since <Material Save> interrupts the deletion, the inherited [On Deletion] effect will be lost before the deletion.[1]
  12. Q: When placing two digivolution cards with the effect of <Material Save 2>, what order are the two cards placed underneath a Tamer?
A: You can place them in any order.[1]
  13. Q: Are cards placed underneath a tamer with <Save>, <Material Save>, or other effects treated as digivolution cards?
A: No, the cards placed underneath a tamer are not treated as digivolution cards and will not have their inherited effects. If the Tamer digivolves into a Digimon, those cards will be treated as digivolution cards, and their inherited effects will be active.[1]

Other Rulings[]

  1. Q: If my Digimon with <Material Save> would be deleted by an effect and I have a <Decoy> (When your other Digimon would be deleted by an opponent's effect, you may delete this Digimon to prevent 1 of those Digimon's deletion) effect that can prevent that deletion. Can I still place cards underneath 1 of my tamers?
A: Yes, <Material Save> triggers at the same time as <Decoy> (When your other Digimon would be deleted by an opponent's effect, you may delete this Digimon to prevent 1 of those Digimon's deletion). So it activates before the Digimon has been deleted. <Material Save> does not prevent its own deletion but you can use <Decoy> (When your other Digimon would be deleted by an opponent's effect, you may delete this Digimon to prevent 1 of those Digimon's deletion) to protect it from deletion while also placing cards from its digivolution cards underneath 1 of your tamers.[1]
  2. Q: If my Digimon has <Material Save 2> and has two cards of the same name in its digivolution cards. That name is in one of thisthe Digimon's DigiXros requirements. Can I place both of those digivolution cards under a tamer?
A: Yes, you can place both cards underneath a Tamer.[2]
