Incorrect Card Text!!
This keyword's English Translation is incorrect. It is a triggered effect, and as such should use "when" for its condition.
Evade

Evade (回避 Kaihi?) is an interruptive triggered effect keyword introduced in EX-03: Theme Booster Draconic Roar. It is indicated by "Evade" on an orange background.

How it Works[]

When a Digimon with <Evade> would be deleted, it may be suspended to prevent that deletion.

Rulings[]

  1. Q: Does <Evade> work against both deletion by battle and deletion by effect?
    A: Yes.[1]
  2. Q: If my Digimon is already suspended, can it activate <Evade>?
A: No, if it cannot "become" suspended then it cannot activate <Evade>.[1]
  3. Q: When a Digimon with <Evade> would be deleted, can I purposely not activate <Evade> so that it is still deleted?
    A: Yes.[1]
  4. Q: If a Digimon with 0 DP activates <Evade>, is its deletion prevented?
A: No, it's still deleted. Technically it's possible to activate <Evade> when a Digimon would be deleted by having 0 DP, however, after activating <Evade> if that Digimon still has 0DP, then the rules will attempt to delete it again, so it will still be deleted.
*Note that Triggered Effects will not work, as they will not be able to activate before it is deleted. Interruptive Effects now has examples in Example 4 and Example 5[1]
  5. Q: If a Digimon with an [On Deletion] effect would be deleted and I activate <Evade>, can I activate that [On Deletion] effect?
A: No, <Evade> prevents deletion, so [On Deletion] effects never trigger, and cannot activate.[1]
  6. Q: If my opponent's Digimon with <Piercing> that can attack unsuspended Digimon attacks my Digimon with <Evade>, if I activate <Evade>, can they activate <Piercing>?
A: No, because <Piercing>'s requirement of your Digimon being deleted was not fulfilled, it cannot activate.[1]
  7. Q: If I have Digimon that has already activated <Evade> and prevented its own deletion, and during that same turn it becomes unsuspended by some effect, can it activate <Evade> again?
    A: Yes.[1]
  8. Q: When my Digimon becomes suspended by activating <Evade>, is it considered to be "suspended by effect"
    A: Yes.[1]

Other Rulings[]

  1. Q: If I activate an effect with "By deleting this Digimon, do X", and I activate Evade to prevent the deletion. Can I still perform the effect afterwards?
    A: No, you cannot.[2]
