Armor Purge

Armor Purge Icon

Armor Purge (アーマー解除 Āmā kaijo?) is an interruptive triggered effect keyword introduced in BT-08: Booster New Hero. It is indicated by "Armor Purge" on an orange background.

How it Works[]

When a Digimon with <Armor Purge> would be deleted, you may trash the top card of the Digimon to prevent its deletion. You trash the Digimon card that is stacked on top of the digivolution cards. The top digivolution card becomes the new Digimon on top of the stack.

When does Armor Purge not prevent deletion?[]

  • If the Digimon with <Armor Purge> does not have any digivolution cards.

What if the top digivolution card under the Digimon is a level 2 Digi-Egg card?[]

  • After successfully using the <Armor Purge> effect, then the Digimon becomes a level 2 Digmon instead. However, the level 2 Digimon will be trashed due to game rules, as level 2 Digimon cannot exist in play in the battle area.

What if the top digivolution card under the Digimon is a Tamer card?[]

  • After successfully using the <Armor Purge> effect, then the Digimon becomes a Tamer instead.

What if the Digimon's DP is reduced to 0?[]

  • If the Digimon with <Armor Purge> has it's DP reduced to 0 DP due to an effect, then <Armor Purge> will successfully prevent its initial deletion. However, the DP reduction will still apply to the new Digimon. So after calculating, the original DP and minus/add the DP alterations the new Digimon's DP is still 0 that Digimon will be deleted instantly still.

Rulings[]

  1. Q: Does "you may trash the top card of this Digimon to prevent that deletion" mean to trash the top most digivolution card?
A: No, instead of digivolution card, you trash the top most card of the Digimon, the same way that you would when <De-Digivolve> happens.  After activating <Armor Purge>, the top most card that was in the digivolution cards before, will then become the Digimon.[1]
  2. Q: Does a Digimon's [On Deletion] effect activate from activating <Armor Purge>?
A: No, as the Digimon that activated <Armor Purge> was not deleted, [On Deletion] effects do not activate.[1]
  3. Q: If the card that was trashed by <Armor Purge> had received effects, does the Digimon that remains retain those effects?
A: Effects that lasts for a specified time period such as “for the turn” will continue to take effect. Effects that target “all of your Digimon”, or “all of your opponent's Digimon”, or “all Digimon” will also continue to take effect for the Digimon after activating <Armor Purge>. If the card that was trashed by <Armor Purge> had an effect that does not fit the above descriptions (i.e. an effect that does not specify how long the effect lasts), those effects are lost due to the card itself being no longer in play.[1]
  4. Q: What happens if a Digimon activates <Armor Purge> when it is to be deleted due to having 0 DP?
A: <Armor Purge> will trash the top most card of the Digimon to prevent its own deletion, however if the DP minus effects continue to take effect on the Digimon afterwards, it is still deleted for having 0 DP.[1]
  5. Q: If a Digimon with <Armor Purge> has no digivolution cards due to other effects or other reasons, can it still activate <Armor Purge>?
A: No, a Digimon without digivolution cards at all cannot activate <Armor Purge>.[1]
  6. Q: If my Digimon with <Armor Purge> that has <Security Attack +1> performs its security check and loses the battle against the security Digimon in its first check, and I activate <Armor Purge> to prevent its deletion, do I continue performing the second check?
A: Yes, you continue to Check with the Digimon after activating <Armor Purge>. However, if that Digimon does not have <Security Attack +1> anymore after activating <Armor Purge>, you are unable to perform the second check and that attack ends.[1]
  7. Q: If a Digimon with <Retaliation> and <Armor Purge> loses a battle with a Digimon, and I activate <Armor Purge> to prevent it from being deleted, does <Retaliation> activate?
A: No, since that Digimon was not deleted due to the activation of <Armor Purge>, the requirement of "When this Digimon is deleted after losing a battle" of <Retaliation> was not met, so it does not activate.[1]
  8. Q: My opponent's Digimon with <Piercing> attacked my Digimon, and my Digimon lost the battle. I then activate my Digimon's <Armor Purge> to prevent it from being deleted. What happens to my opponent's <Piercing>?
A: As the requirement of "when this Digimon attacks and deletes an opponent's Digimon and survives the battle" of <Piercing> was not met, it does not activate.[1]
  9. Q: Can a Digimon with only a level 2 card in its digivolution cards activate <Armor Purge>?
A: Yes, it can. However, as level 2 Digimon cannot be in the battle area, that Digimon is trashed after activating <Armor Purge>.[1]
  10. Q: What happens if a Digimon with a Tamer card in its digivolution card activates <Armor Purge>, and that Tamer card becomes the top most card of the Digimon?
A: It will become a Tamer at that point of time. However, the Tamer is not to be considered as being played.[1]

Other Rulings[]

  1. Q: My Digimon has <Piercing> gained from an effect and battles a Digimon with equal DP. I activate <Armor Purge> to prevent it from being deleted. Does <Piercing> trigger?
A: Yes, because the Digimon will still have <Piercing> and it deleted a Digimon battle and survived it will trigger.[2]
  2. Q: My Digimon does not have <Piercing> and battles a Digimon with equal DP. I activate <Armor Purge> to prevent it from being deleted and it becomes a Digimon with <Piercing>. Does <Piercing> trigger?
A: Yes, it triggers becaues it has <Piercing> at the correct timing and deleted a Digimon in battle and survived.[2]
  3. Q: My Digimon that has <Piercing> battles a Digimon with equal DP. I activate <Armor Purge> to prevent it from being deleted but it loses <Piercing>. Does <Piercing> trigger or activate?
A: No, it does not trigger because it loses <Piercing> before <Piercing> would trigger and would not activate because it never triggered.[3]
  4. Q: I have an effect that says "By deleting 1 of your Digimon, do <X>", if I choose to delete a Digimon with <Armor Purge> and then prevent the deletion by trashing the top card of the Digimon. Can I perform "do <X>"?
A: No, as you did not successfully delete a Digimon the <X> cannot be applied.[4]
